1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy describes how Uniquest Africa (“Uniquest”, “we”, “us”) processes personal data through www.uniquestafrica.com and our mentor and administrator dashboards.
We are the Data Controller for the personal data described below. Our application for registration with Ghana’s Data Protection Commission under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) is currently in progress. Our registration number will be published here once issued.
Questions about this policy or about your personal data can be sent to support@uniquestafrica.com.
2. What data we collect
We collect only the data we need to recommend programs, run mentorship sessions, and improve the platform.
a. Visitors (no account required)
- A randomly generated session identifier stored in your browser.
- Page views, clicks, search queries, filters used, and the programs or universities you view.

b. Students who submit the program-finder quiz
- Full name, phone number, senior high school, region, year of completion, gender, and SHS course.
- Your WASSCE / aggregate inputs, elective and core subjects, career interests, and university preferences.
- The recommendations we generated for you.
c. Students who book a mentorship session

- Payment details processed by our payment partner (see Section 4); we never see or store full card numbers.
- Booking history, attendance, and session feedback.
d. Mentors
- Name, email, phone, LinkedIn URL, current role and company, years of experience, industry.
- Education history (undergraduate and highest qualification: institution, field of study, degree type).
- Bio, areas of mentorship, profile photo, optional introduction video, weekly availability.
- Authentication credentials managed via Firebase Authentication (we never see your password).
- Mobile money number used to receive your earnings (held only with our payment partner).
e. Administrators
- Work email and account credentials for staff who manage the platform.
3. Why we collect it (lawful basis)
- Performance of a contract — to deliver the recommendations, mentorship sessions, and bookings you ask us for.
- Your consent — for analytics, marketing emails (where applicable), and any optional features you choose to enable.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the platform secure, prevent fraud, debug issues, and improve our recommendations.
- Legal obligation — to retain financial records and respond to lawful requests from regulators.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers we need to run the platform, and only the data they need to do their job.
- Firebase / Google Cloud — user authentication, mentor profile images and videos. Data is held on Google’s infrastructure.
- Paystack — processes session payments and mobile-money payouts. Receives payer email, phone, amount, and payment instrument details.
- Hubtel — sends booking confirmations and session reminders by SMS. Receives phone number and session details.
- Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity — aggregate usage analytics and session-replay heatmaps. Loaded only on the production website.
- Formspree — processes submissions from our contact form.
- Render — hosts our backend services.
- Vercel — hosts our websites.
We may also disclose personal data when required by law, by court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Uniquest, our users, or the public.
5. International data transfers
Some of the providers above process data outside Ghana, primarily in the United States and the European Union. Where this happens, we rely on the contractual safeguards published by those providers and on the “adequate level of protection” recognised under section 47 of Act 843. You can request the list of providers and their data-processing terms at any time.
6. How long we keep data
- Pending session bookings: cancelled automatically if payment is not completed promptly.
- Authentication tokens: short-lived sign-in tokens; refresh credentials rotate periodically.
- Quiz results, bookings, and mentor profiles: retained while your account is active and for the period needed to satisfy our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
- Analytics events: kept in aggregate form for trend analysis. You can ask us to delete events linked to your session identifier.
- Payment records: retained for the period required by Ghanaian financial-record law.
7. How we protect data
- All traffic to our sites and APIs is encrypted with HTTPS.
- Passwords are hashed; we never store them in plain text and cannot retrieve them.
- Access to production data is limited to a small number of authorised staff and is logged.
- Our analytics and session-replay tools run only on the production website.
- See our Security page for more detail and for guidance if you suspect your account has been compromised.
8. Your rights under Act 843
You have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct data that is wrong or out of date.
- Ask us to delete your data, subject to legal retention rules.
- Withdraw consent for analytics or marketing at any time.
- Object to processing that you believe is unfair or excessive.
- Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@uniquestafrica.com. We respond within 30 days.
9. Children
The platform is intended for senior high school students and older. Where a user is under 18 and Ghanaian law requires parental consent, we rely on the parent or guardian who supplies the information to provide it. If you believe a child’s data has been submitted without that consent, contact us and we will remove it.
10. Mentor-specific notice
If you join the platform as a mentor, the following also applies:
- The information published on your public mentor profile (name, role, company, education summary, bio, photo, optional introduction video, areas of mentorship) is visible to all site visitors. Sensitive details such as your phone, email, payout number, LinkedIn, and full application history remain private.
- Bookings made for your sessions include the student’s name, email, and phone. You may use these only to deliver the booked session and to follow up about it — not for marketing or any other purpose.
- You must respect each student’s confidentiality. Anything shared during a session is private unless the student agrees otherwise.
- If we reject or revoke your application, we keep a minimum record (name, email, decision, reason) for audit purposes. You can request deletion of any other data you supplied.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice where you have an account with us.
