Program Description

Construction Technology and Engineering Management teaches students how to design, build, and maintain buildings, roads, and infrastructure. You will study technical drawing, computer-aided design, building materials, construction methods, site surveying, project planning, and basic structural mathematics. The program blends engineering fundamentals with management skills so you can plan schedules, estimate costs, and supervise works. Graduates may become site supervisors, construction technologists, project managers, quantity surveyors, or continue to study to become civil, mechanical, or electrical engineers. This program is practical and hands-on, and it prepares SHS students for real-world construction jobs and further technical or university training. It is ideal if you enjoy problem solving, design, and working on visible projects that shape communities.

Aims & Objectives

1

Develop the ability to produce construction drawings and models using CAD tools, measurable by completed drawing projects.

2

Master basic project planning and scheduling techniques, measurable by creating and presenting a project schedule using MS Project or similar.

3

Understand properties and testing of common building materials, measurable by conducting and reporting material tests in the lab.

4

Create accurate cost estimates and simple bills of quantities, measurable by preparing at least one complete estimate for a sample project.

5

Apply health, safety, and quality control procedures on site, measurable by completing safety checklists and site reports.
