Program Description
Fashion Design Technology teaches how to design, make, and present clothing and fashion products while exploring culture and visual communication. Students study design principles, fashion illustration, pattern drafting, garment construction, textile science, fashion history, and digital design tools. The program blends studio work, practical sewing, and digital media so you build a portfolio of garments and designs. Career paths include fashion designer, stylist, costume maker, production manager, fashion marketer, boutique owner, and related roles such as graphic designer, museum curator, art teacher, or creative director. Aims & Objectives
Develop clear fashion sketches and illustrations, demonstrated by a term portfolio of 8 to 12 concept drawings.
Master basic pattern drafting and garment construction, shown by producing at least three well-finished garments.
Understand textile properties and appropriate material selection, measured by fabric analysis reports and selection projects.
Create a digital portfolio using industry tools, completed as an online or PDF showcase of designs and finished work.
